Vikings Water Polo was formed in 2020 after interest was shown by a group of post school age players to continue competing and there being no real avenue for this to occur. Vikings provided a training and team environment and an opportunity for those who had coached and refereed to pursue their interest in the sport. The club entered its first senior women’s team in the Brisbane Water Polo Senior competition in season 2020-21, then Water Polo Queensland Premier League and State Titles.

With the availability of coaches within the club, it was soon involved in junior participation and development and has become one of the state's fastest growing water polo clubs. The Junior Vikings and Junior Development programs continue to attract waiting lists and have now been scheduled to run during each school term and thus will ensure the club a continued and growing pool of athletes into the future. The 2022-23 season saw our first Junior teams enter the Brisbane Water Polo competitions, Water Polo Queensland State Titles and Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.
